Newborn Baby Massage Know Everything To Connect With Your Baby
Newborn Baby massage is a great opportunity for you to bond with your baby. Massage is a wonderful way for your baby to experience and learn from the sense of touch. It is best to massage your baby when they are alert and calm. A good time for this is following their bath as part of a nightly routine to help relax them for sleep. In the first few months, we suggest separating massage and bath time as doing these activities together may be overstimulating for young babies. Gather everything you need before you start to massage including an extra mild lotion. You can massage your baby on their change table or on a towel on the floor wherever it is comfortable. Remember you should never leave your baby alone on a change table not even for a moment. When selecting somewhere to massage your baby, be mindful of your posture you should have bent elbows and your baby close to you so you are not overreaching. Once you and your baby are comfortable, start with long smooth strokes from their hips to their feet maintaining contact with your baby's skin at all times, stroke from their heel to their toes and use gentle circular motions on the base of their feet. Stroke diagonally from the baby's shoulder to the opposite hip, always keeping one hand in contact with their skin. Using both hands stroked down your baby's chest abdomen and down the legs to the feet. Gently turn your baby onto their tummy and continue stroking from their neck all the way down to their bottom or toes. You can continue your baby massage as long as your baby is comfortable and calm, once your baby becomes sleepy or unsettled it is best to stop. Once you have finished massaging your baby put their clothes on. Massage will help to calm and relax your baby and is an activity you and your baby will both enjoy.
